So I've pretty much told everyone about the trip, but I'll put it up
anyways. Nancy and I found an place to live. It's the third
floor of a 1913 Victorian home. It's a three story house with a
basement that has a W/D and storage lockers.
The apartment is a large one bedroom and I'll get pictures up when we
get some from the property management company. The living room
was two couches that we bought and enough room for both of us to have
our desks. Also, a working fireplace is in the living room.
The kitchen and bathroom are both good size. The bedroom has a
deck off the side the is on the back side of the house and a walk-in
closet is just outside the bedroom.
The other purpose of the trip was for me to find a mentor for my
education who will also provide funding. So I met with the Dean
of the program, which is ranked 14 in the nation, and other
faculty. The faculty members I met with gave me tours of their
labs. I toured a knee and shoulder lab, a hand lab, a pressure
ulser lab, and a shoulder prosthetic lab.
I think I have a good chance to get into the pressure ulser lab, which
are more less bed sores, because they have a lot of funding and a
couple spots available on different projects. There are four or
five more labs I will tour in July and hopefully I will find one to
join.
