I get on the 500 from campus to Shadyside. The seats usually fill up so people stand throughout the bus. I was the first, and only, person standing in the back of the bus. The driver starts to head towards the next stop and this SUV pulls out right in front of the bus and BAM. I go flying, falling down the steps and landing on my shoulder. As I performed my aerial stunt I must have knocked a coke out of this girl’s hand and it spilled all over me. My shoulder is better now, but yesterday it felt like I got a tetanus shot and then someone punched me as hard as they could.

I get up and shake it off. The bus driver asked us to fill out witness cards and I get off the bus. The front driver side of this fancy brand new, gas guzzling SUV was crunched. Busted light, buckled hood and the grill on the ground...it honestly made my shoulder feel better. The place the SUV was pulling out from has two huge signs larger than the single stop sign saying look left…what a moron.

Thought I would share some pictures from Edinburgh, Scotland.

This is Edinburgh (pronounced Edinbera) Castle. The shear cliffs are part of an extinct volcano and provided excellent protection.

Moving Day

I moved on Saturday and didn't end up too sore today. I luckily had several people come help so we finished in about 3 hours. We wound up moving the two couches, mattress and box springs, and our head and foot board via decks. The stair case is so narrow it is impossible to move that stuff up/down the stairs so we pass it from our deck to our neighbors deck, to the top of the uhaul, then to the ground.

Our new place is on the basement level and has two bedrooms, a washer/dryer in the apt and a backyard. Those are the pros, the cons are no hardwood floors, fireplace or deck. After sleeping the morning away, I finished setting up the living room and bedroom. The 2nd bedroom and kitchen received little attention, but hopefully I can get it done tomorrow after work. I did take full advantage of the washer and dryer...it has been 5 years of coin ops.

Nancy is having a great time in Strasbourg and will be there for another week. Yesterday, she took a 30 mile bike ride through a portion of wine country and said it was amazing with castles and fortresses everywhere. I have to admit I'm jealous because I spent the day moving.

I'll get some pics of the new place after I finish set it up.

A new home

Nancy and I signed a lease for a new place today. The new apt is only three blocks from our current apt, but three blocks closer to everything. It is an apt from the same leasing company and has two main selling points: 2 bedrooms (one for a study) and a washer and dryer in the apt. Also, it has its own entrance, two sinks, a backyard, and is on the basement level. However, it does not have hardwood floors, but it will be nice to have the extra room.

Nancy will be in Europe when we move so....anyone want to help? jk

The elevation change is about 400 ft, but with the new bike its so much easier. Plus, its downhill to work so I'm not a sweaty beast when I get there.

What? A Kahunaville token

I went to Giant Eagle last week and bought a roll of quarters for laundry. It was the typical plastic wrapped roll of quarters, but little did I realize I lucked out and won a Kahunaville token. What is Kahunaville you ask? Kahunaville is the "Tropical Oasis of Food and Fun!" so says the token itself.

Just wanted to take the time and thank the banking system of whichever bank it is that is prestigious enough to have Giant Eagle as a customer. Next time though, I would appreciate 40 quarters to do my laundry not 39.

The Cold

Tonight was the first time I really felt I should have put on some longjohns this morning. I didn't feel too much like a wimp because it is 13F with a wind chill of -4F. The good thing is that we have got some good snows that past fews day so the snowboarding this weekend will be great.
